•           The bespoke training for volunteers in ForensicsOver the last year our work from the involvement team has increased its work in the forensic division with our volunteers. It was felt we needed to design a training package to help support our volunteers many who are service users and carers with their volunteering. The training also demonstrates to the forensic division that our volunteers are not just walking in off the street into this complex area of the trust. We developed a full day’s training package with support from Rampton’s recovery lead, security department, and the volunteering manager at Rampton who places volunteers and befriend us and of course has a great deal of experience in this. The centre manager of Rosewood also took part in the training. The training itself looked at the history of Rampton which led to where all the forensic division is located not just Rampton of course that the medium secure hospitals, low secure, and HMP. The security part of the training was extremely interested and challenging itself about the responsibilities not just of staff but of course volunteers themselves. The volunteering in befriending manager talked about the dos and don’ts and rules which again was very beneficial. Which is linked to why and what we do and when. The training also covered safeguarding and information governance. At the end of this one-day course both staff and volunteers who attended the day were extremely pleased on what has been presented and learned and also the reassurance to the forensic division that the volunteers had in fact taken part in this training.
