Improving food, activities and communication at Highbury Hospital

In the last 3 months (June to August 2014), work initiated by or progressed by the Highbury Live! Team with support from service managers has sought to improve quality/quantity of food, communication and activities. These were the three main issues taht had been raised from feedback. Below are some of the recnet developments:Quality/Quantity of food·         PLACE audits conducted across sites which indicated real no concerns·         Any issues raised within Patients Council and Catering meetings are communicated to Aramark·         Global e-mail has gone out to all staff asking for their opinions/views on the food – this is being fed back at a meeting with Aramark and Highbury Live! on 12th August at 11.30am·         A patient/staff survey on food quality/choice is currently being devised and the Involvement Team have already agreed to carry out the survey within the hospital·         Discussion with Aramark about extending access to the canteen  Communication·         Patients Council held each month. All wards informed and information on notice boards·         Live! Action Newsletter highlighting events, places, people on site etc.·         Site map introduced and circulated widely across the site·         Appointment of a Peer Support Worker to Highbury Live! to work closely with peers and service users/patients·          Held a Summer Fete where information on Highbury Live! was widely shared  Activities         ·         Dance Classes open to all patients across site·         Patients Council fully established·         Introduction of the Big Diggers Project – “Come Grow with me @ Highbury” ·         Appointment of Live! Project Peer Support Worker  which will support the “Every Contact Counts” CQUIN (Commission for Quality and Innovation) Target·         Increased access to pharmacy advice for patients, carers and staff
