Wonderful poem about nurses' care and compassion on Mother and Baby Unit

We felt we had to share this poem we received about a patient's experience on our Mother And Baby Unit.  This is what care and compassion felt like to the mother.

"Thank god for the nurses,

Thank god for them all,

For caring, not judging, for breaking my fall,

For simly just being a crutch at my side,

For dragging me through  life‘s rockiest ride,

Thank god for the nurses,

Who were simply just there,

With a smile and a cuppa,

To show that they care,

When life was so hard that I struggled to cope,

Thank god for the nurses with stories of hope,

Thank god for the nurses who helped me stand tall,

Restoring my good health once and for all,

Thank god for the nurses who just held my hand,

My mind had gone wild - this was not what I‘d planned.

Thank go for the nurses' compassion and care,

For letting me know that they’d help me get there,

For helping me hold my new baby tight,

For comforting me as the day turned to night.

For watching me ride out the deep sea of pain,

For telling me that I'd get better again,

For always knowing the time not to speak,

For seeing me broken, for seeing me weak,

Thank god for the nurses, who knows where I'd be,

Without their support and their great empathy,

They've taught me the very best use for my mind,

The best gift of all is to simply be kind.

Thank god for the nurses,

Thank god for them all,

For caring, not judging, for breaking my fall,

For giving me back the life that I treasure,

With my baby, my darling, my pride and my pleasure,

My baby who daily melts my big heart,

Thank god for the nurses - good nursing’s an art!"
