Films starring service users show adults with learning disabilities where and how to find help
16/06/2016 by Amy Gaskin-Williams
The Trust’s Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) services are making a series of nine informational DVDs and an information booklet, showing service users how to access local services including the GP, job centre, police, education and how to support their children to school.
The DVDs and booklet are a response to feedback from patients and their families/carers asking for more information and guidance on how to access support outside of NHS services.
The films are shot using service users who also wrote the scripts. The voice over is also done by a person with Asperger Syndrome.
